OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!!

Come join us Saturday, March 22nd from 10am to 12pm at the beautiful Stonewall Manor to learn all about historic gardens, early 1800s gardening practices, native plants, and more! There will be several speakers, demonstrations, and expert gardeners sharing their knowledge.

There will be RAFFLE DRAWINGS for plants and a 50/50 raffle.

There will be plants for sale by the presenters.

WE BEGIN PROMPTLY AT 10 am.

Schedule of events:

10:00 – Welcome and introductions

10:05 - Rocky Cooper – Backyard beekeeping. Beekeeper for 6 years. Wilson County Beekeepers Association. Works with Sapony Creek Apiary. Maintains 15 local hives.

10:25 - Anne Pierce – Native Plants in Historical Gardens. Retired Horticulturalist. Former Horticulture Instructor. NC Certified Plant Professional. Extension Master Gardener of Nash County for 24 years.

10:45 - PRM Annual Membership Meeting, self-guided tours of Stonewall Manor, sale of plants and honey products, and time for bathroom breaks (bathrooms are inside Stonewall).

11:15 - Anna Stark - Early 19th century gardening, plant selections and tools utilized. Master Gardener for 20 years with special interests in 18th and 19th century historic gardens and plants. Masters in Historic Archaeology . Has worked at Monticello, Colonial Williamsburg, Poplar Forest, and many other historic sites in NC, VA, KY, and TN.

11:35 - Joie Byrne - Demonstrating the early practice of making your own wattle fencing. Gardening for 45 years. Certified Nash County Master Gardener for 24 years. Served on the original design committee of the Nash County Arboretum

11:55 - Raffle drawings. Sale of plants and local honey products.

The event will be on the front lawn of Stonewall Manor.

There are a limited number of chairs. You may wish to bring a lawn chair.

RAIN OR SHINE

In the event of rain, the event will be held inside Stonewall.

We will also hold PRM's Annual Membership Meeting at this event.
